The Golden Pig – (Geummo Daewang)

A colossal yoma (demon) sighted across the deep mountain ranges and abandoned mines of the Eight Provinces of Joseon.

While it is known by various names—such as Geummo Daewang (The Golden-Haired King), Hwanggeumsangun (The Golden Mountain Lord), and Tamsikgwi (The Gluttonous Ghoul)—most commoners simply call it the Golden Pig.

The Golden Pig is no ordinary beastly yokai. He is a calamity born from a fusion of the wealth held within the mountains and the insatiable greed of humanity—the tragic result of an ancient mountain god fallen from grace.

Long ago, a localized deity who governed prosperity and harvest resided in a certain mountain. Every year, the people offered pigs and grain, seeking the mountain's blessings.

However, as war and famine persisted, humans began to crave greater wealth.

The altar where the mountain god was once worshipped was transformed into a gold mine.

The sacred tree was chopped down.

The ancient graves were desecrated.

Countless miners perished, and even more slaughtered one another in their pursuit of gold. The mountain absorbed all of that resentment and desire—and ultimately, the god lost its divinity, mutating into a monster.
