An old half-yōkai who travels between this world and the next, trading in forbidden items.
Once a peddler who roamed throughout Joseon, when endless craving for wealth swallowed his reason, he dared to cross the line that should not be crossed and laid hands on items from the underworld.
The price for breaking the taboo was harsh. His body was twisted into a half-yōkai, and unfulfilled greed became a curse, binding him forever to the boundary between the living and the dead. He thus slowly lost his humanity.
Now, people whisper in fear as they see his transformed figure beyond the fog. The existence that travels between the underworld and the present world, engaging in forbidden trades, called the "Guest of the Ghost Gate" (Gwimunjunggaek).
When the time comes for the boundary between the human world and the underworld to blur, he still wanders the gap between this world and the next, carrying a bundle bulging with greed, his avaricious eyes gleaming in search of another trading partner.
